About
I am a wanderlust by nature, a foodie by nurture, a journalist by training and a publicist by trade. It was only a matter of time before all of those collided in the blogosphere. Welcome to The Wanderkind: travel, food, media and the business of all thereof.
Currently I work for Slife Public Relations, a Los Angeles-based PR firm specializing in the restaurant, food, beverage and hospitality industry. Call it a serendipitous collision of all my professional interests. That said, The Wanderkind is less a product of ambition than it is a creative outlet for my curiosities. A Pensieve, if you will. If you feel compelled to contact me, please email me at Nancy at tinynancer [at] gmail [dot] com. I welcome comments, critiques, contributions and all other applicable literary alliterations.
Random Factoids
- I used to be picky as a child, but will now eat anything. I can’t get enough of foie gras and stinky cheese, but my go-to comfort dish is spaghetti bolognese.
- When reading and writing about food, I love the words effervescent, cloying, velvety and umami. I hate the pretentious use of the word unctuous.
- One of my favorite travel memories is getting my passport stamped for the first time.
- I’m looking for a partner to compete in “The Amazing Race.” (The boyfriend thinks it’s silly.)
- I studied linguistics, I love word games, and I can kick a lot of people’s butts in Scrabble.
- I am a grammar and AP style freak. I always correct “over” to “more than.”
- I once drove barefoot several years ago and liked it so much that I do it regularly now. It feels weird to drive with shoes on.
