New York in two days…

…and I haven’t made ONE restaurant reservation?!  When I booked those ludicrously cheap tickets on Virgin back in September, I thought I had plenty of time to do a little research and plan out a culinary fantasy of a lifetime.  (Mmm, the sweet sound of hyperbole…)  But what do you know, it’s November and I haven’t had a chance to even think about it.  So I implore you all for suggestions, lowbrow to highbrow, restaurants only (nightlife will be taken care of by my lovely boyfriend).  Dives and dumps and exotic weirdness welcome.  Location matters little so long as it’s in the five boroughs.  Thanks, and I’ll be sure to report back.

Jean George for M-Fri lunch prix fixe is a must-must-must. Chikalicious for dessert is divine, but not res necessary. DBGB’s bar area was quite dead, and needed no res, ditto to Pastis for brekkie. Have a GREAT TIME!

I can only tell where I went/liked, and where I’m going to next week :P

Liked: Yakitori Totto, JG, Gramercy Tavern. Quite a few good weekday lunch prix fixes around town too, like Fleur de Sel. And don’t forget to stop by the Dessert Truck!

Going to: Ippudo, Eleven Madison Park, Sushi Yasuda, Russ&Daughters

    Have fun!! :D

coffee at la colombe, cafe grumpy, cafe sabarsky, bouchon, stumptown, mud, and abraco. they are all over the city so if you need coffee those are your best bets (that i can think of off the top of my head)

EMP has a prix fixe 2 course for 28 which includes macaroons + mignardises + two-three amuse bouche. bruni’s last four star rating.

lombardi’s has a good clam pizza and decent ny slice. decent ny slice also found at patsy and johns. neapolitan pizzas at keste, motorino. avoid artichoke.

hot dogs /drinks at crifs/pdt. caroline was just there you can ask her about it.

breakfast- r + d, locanda verde, csbc is popular but ok, avoid norma’s.

just opened= tipsy parsons, a voce (missy robbins is chef from spiaggia, in Chicago, aka obamas fave restaurant), , ma peche (momofuku new midtown spot), maialano (italian from danny meyer).

fried chicken was the new craze- you can get good fried chicken at the redhead and blue ribbon brasserie. minetta tavern is the biggest hotspot right now and you MIGHT be able to walk in but call to make sure. they are famous for their black label burger (26) which is amazing and rib eyes (90). their 16 dllar burger is supposed to be better but i haven’t had that. good bone marrow too

Me thinks that Gramercy went bankrupt and is no longer?

I’ll ask my friend Jessica who I traveled with this summer. She’s been living in new york for quite a while and could probably point you in some great hidden spots (in addition to the usual Momofuku, etc.) I’ll let you know!
